The Swedish ferry company runs a twice daily freight service from Belfast-Heysham providing a vital trade corridor between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

Stena Line has confirmed plans to launch a new freight service between Dublin and Birkenhead (Liverpool) starting mid-February 2024. The new service will initially operate with one ship departing Dublin early in the morning and making the return journey from Birkenhead in the evening.

Swedish ferry operator Stena Line today announces the discontinuation of its route between Nynäshamn in Sweden and Hanko in Finland. The main reason being failing demand from freight customers due to the development of the current geopolitical situation. One of Europe’s largest ferry route and port operators, Stena Line, has signed a new deal with Peel Ports, a major UK Port operator, to operate their 12 Quays port and ferry terminal in Birkenhead until the beginning of the 22nd Century. The Swedish company has operated twice daily ferry services to Belfast since 2011 and this new deal will see them continue to operate there for at least another 77 years, until 2100.
