The exercise simulated a crisis in the terminal and on board a passenger ferry arriving from Sweden to Ventspils and involved the coordinated response of Latvian security, defence forces and emergency response services. The scenario was designed to test operational readiness, interagency cooperation and the ability to respond effectively to potential security threats in the maritime environment.

Liene Lemane, Trade Director Stena Line Business Region Baltic Sea North, said:
“At Stena Line, safety and security is our utmost priority. As one of the leading ferry operators in the Baltic Sea region, we understand the importance of resilient transport and port infrastructure. Exercises such as this help improve cooperation between the private sector, public authorities and defence partners to ensure the continued reliability of vital transport links as our ferry routes connecting Liepaja and Ventspils with Germany and Sweden.”
The exercise highlighted the vital role that cooperation between public authorities, defence and security institutions, port operators and transport companies plays in safeguarding critical infrastructure. Stena Line was proud to support the exercise and contribute to strengthening the resilience of critical transport infrastructure and maritime operations.
Maritime transport is a cornerstone of economic activity and connectivity in the Baltic Sea region. Ferry operators and ports provide essential links for people, goods and supply chains, supporting economic growth, trade and regional integration. Ensuring their continued operations is an important component of both national preparedness and broader regional resilience. Through participation in exercises such as this, Stena Line continues to support efforts aimed at strengthening preparedness, enhancing cooperation and building a more resilient Baltic Sea region.
