Here at Stena Line, we are all part of the same crew. We might not work on the same ship or even at sea, but we are all still family (being a Swedish, family-owned company after all). Our identity is shaped by our Swedish roots and the fact we are a family owned company. Our founder, Sten Allan Olsson, grew up in a fishing community on a small island in Gothenburg’s archipelago in the 1920’s. On the Island of Donsö the people were grateful for whatever the sea could provide, and our founder learned at a young age that caring for each other, hard work and always delivering on a promise were fundamental values both in life and business.
Our purpose is our driving motivation. It’s greater than the goal of profit and it answers the question of why we do what we do. We exist to be a trusted link between people, places and societies. We are trusted because we always deliver on our promise, and as a link we’re part of something bigger. We play a vital role in keeping everything connected. We make sure people and goods arrive where they need to be, enabling business to thrive and societies to grow. We connect family and friends, and make it possible to explore new destinations or revisit favourite places.
Our vision “Connecting Europe for a sustainable future” is the prime goal of our journey. The way we see it, it’s all connected. By bringing people and goods together, we enable businesses and societies to grow. This in turn makes it possible for us to develop as an even safer and more reliable company that reduces its environmental footprint, step by step.
