The aim of the exercise was to improve the ability to respond to threats in the maritime environment and to strengthen cooperation on critical infrastructure security in the Baltic Sea region. The scenario involved simultaneous operations across land, sea, air, cyber and space domains. The exercises took place at the Public Ferry Terminal in Gdynia and on board the Stena Estelle ferry, and involved the ferry, Navy vessels, Blackhawk helicopters and F-16 fighters.

The demonstration was observed by the foreign ministers of the member states of the Council of the Baltic Sea States, who were attending a meeting of the organisation held as part of the Polish Presidency. The event highlighted the importance of cooperation between government administration, the armed forces and transport infrastructure operators in building the resilience of the Baltic Sea region.
“The security of port and maritime infrastructure is of fundamental importance today to the functioning of the entire Baltic Sea region. At Stena Line, we have for many years been part of the system that ensures connectivity, transport continuity and the region’s resilience. Participation in the ORKAN26 exercises demonstrates how important cooperation is between business, government and the services responsible for safety. These exercises also enable us to better prepare for emergency situations and test our cooperation procedures in practice.” said Marek Kiersnowski, Trade Director Stena Line Business Region Baltic Sea South.
This year, Stena Line is celebrating 31 years of the Gdynia–Karlskrona route, which has been designated a Motorway of the Sea and has become a strategic element of the 6th Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) linking Scandinavia with Poland and Central Europe. During this time, the carrier has transported over 13 million passengers, 2 million cars and nearly 3 million freight units. The company’s operations play a vital role not only in ensuring the continuity of transport and economic exchange, but also in strengthening the region’s logistical resilience and security. For years, Stena Line has been actively collaborating with public and industry partners to promote maritime transport safety and the protection of critical infrastructure.
