Women in maritime
What did you want to become when you were a kid?
Combat helicopter pilot. I was very influenced by my father who was a combat pilot in the Air Force before he started working as a Captain in commercial aviation.
Why did you choose to work within shipping?
There are many reasons, but I do like to work one week on, and then have one week off.
When you are onboard you can easily focus on the job at hand, plus the luxury of having everything within one minute of walking distance and also getting great meals served to you in the mess.
Having a whole week off also suits my passion for wave surfing. To be able to just go whenever the forecast looks good means more hours in the water doing what makes my soul smile.
What is your best work-related memory?
I would say the inauguration of Stena Nautica at our new port of Halmstad. Just seeing the whole crew come together and deliver pure excellence brings a smile to my face just thinking about it.
It is with a strong sense of pride that I can say that I am a part of that team.
Who has been your role model?
I can’t really say that I have one person as a role model. But I am truly inspired by women that plant a seed of courage in people. I try to be that kind of woman for myself and others every day.
