Stena Line’s commitment to gender equality starts at the top
We are delighted to mark International Women’s Day 2023 with the news that our Group Management team is now made up of an equal number of women and men.

Stena Line’s senior leadership is now made up of three women and three men, as Elisabeth Lönne was promoted to Chief Commercial Officer in May 2022, joining Margareta Jensen Dickson, Chief People and Communications Officer, and Marica Derenstrand, Chief Financial Officer.
The other members of Group Management are CEO Niclas Mårtensson; Ian Hampton, Chief Operating Officer Fleet and Government Affairs; and Carl-Johan Hellner, Chief Operating Officer Ports & Terminals and Head of Stena Line Group Strategy.
Committed to equality
Gender equality is a key part of our sustainability strategy, and we set ambitious targets for improvement each year. In our industry, just 2.7% of seafarers are women, so it’s important that we play our part in expanding opportunities for women in all areas of our business.
Although we are pleased to have exceeded our target to have 30% women in our Group Management team, there is still more to be done. We continue to work towards a future where we have 30% female managers across the business.
Untapped potential
“Actively working towards improved gender equality means we have wider scope to choose the best talent,” explains Margareta. “And that will help us deliver as a business. Research shows that when companies are more equal, they are also more creative, innovative, and profitable.”
