The journey starts with Pauline
My family is very international – I’m French and my husband is from New Zealand – and we’ve lived all over the world. I decided to make a big change in my career when we moved to Sweden. I went from being a teacher to becoming a software developer. It’s given me a much better work-life balance and I’ve learnt so many new things in a short time.
I’m supported in my role
I found this position through a recruiter. I knew I wanted to work for a big company where there’s a supportive culture and opportunities to grow and expand my skills. I definitely got that! Even though I was newly trained when I started, my managers knew that I was driven to do my best, and they took a chance on me. The platform we use is complicated, but I was given time and support to build my skills and I’m grateful for that. I know lots of the people I trained with haven’t been given the same opportunities and have felt much more pressure.
A friendly team
I divide my week between working from home and working in the office. My team is really friendly and supportive, and there’s always plenty of collaboration and dialogue. We talk openly about wanting new challenges sometimes, and our managers are happy to help us develop new technical skills by getting us to work on different things. There’s lots of flexibility and that helps keeps things fresh. We’re encouraged to keep learning. We all support each other to bring as much value as we can to the team, and that makes it a nice place to be.
