Strategic Crewing & Workforce Manager

We are seeking a Strategic Crewing & Workforce Manager to drive crewing optimization across Stena Line’s regions and to manage the crewing team in Scandinavia. This is a high-impact leadership role with a clear focus on strategic workforce planning, compliance, and data-driven decision-making. Together with your team, you will ensure we have the right people onboard, at the right time — now and in the future.
Some of your key responsibilities:
Strategic & cross- European Focus
- Design and implement long-term strategic workforce plans grounded in operational reality and legal requirements.
- Use data analytics, planning tools, and KPIs to forecast crew needs, close skill gaps, and ensure staffing readiness.
- Lead the transformation of crewing processes to be more digital, efficient, and future-focused.
- Optimize scheduling and crewing operations to ensure cost-efficiency while maintaining compliance with global CBAs and labor regulations.
- Proactively monitor labor law developments to stay ahead of compliance risks.
- Collaborate closely with Legal-, Fleet-, People department, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and operational integration.
- Standardize and elevate workforce planning across regions using a fact-based approach.
Regional Focus – Scandinavia
- Lead and develop the Fleet Crewing team in Scandinavia with a focus on performance, efficiency, and service excellence.
- Lead efficient and compliant crew scheduling and manning across vessels.
- Oversee personnel certification, training, and development in line with MLC, ILO, STCW, and Flag State regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement through data insights and digital tools in planning and crewing coordination.
- Act as a strategic advisor on crewing-related matters to both regional and corporate leadership.
What you will experience
You will lead an experienced and collaborative team of 10, based in Gothenburg and supported by our Crewing Team Lead. Together, the team manages all crew planning for our Scandinavian fleet of 8 Swedish-flagged vessels operating out of Gothenburg, Halmstad, and Trelleborg. In addition, you will collaborate closely with our crewing teams across other regions—traveling regularly to foster alignment and ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in strategic HR and workforce planning.
- Expertise in scheduling, forecasting, and operational optimization.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with workforce planning, different CBA structures and data analytics tools.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Proficient in Swedish and English.
- International working experience with workforce management
It is a plus if you also have:
- Understanding of maritime labor regulations, crewing operations, workforce planning, and CBAs.
- Knowledge of international maritime labor standards (MLC, STCW).
- Experience leading teams through change and driving operational improvements.
