Someone who is comfortable being self-dependent and keen also to be part of a small hard working and dedicated deck team.
Responsibilities:
Your tasks as an ETO are diverse and as such you will have the opportunity to use and develop your problem solving skills in a wide range of scenarios. As a ETO you are responsible for:
Providing operational support to ship management teams and assist onboard management in operating the vessels safely, efficiently and cost effectively within the Electro/Technical discipline.
- The maintenance and safe operation of the equipment in your charge.
- Managing all identified risks to ship, personnel and environment and establishing appropriate safeguards.
- Acting in accordance with your duties in the vessels safety organisation.
- Preparing, developing and operating a planned maintenance system for Electro/Technical equipment
- Providing an emergency call out for equipment designated as: - Ship’s safety equipment - Ship’s essential operating equipment
- Assisting Ship management in projects related to Electro/ Technical disciplines.
- Maintaining an up to date knowledge of current legislation pertinent to the equipment in your charge and the latest developments in new technology in this respect.
- Making yourself available at the vessels annual refit and any emergency dockings that may occur to assist with the Electro/Technical jobs and to assist the Safety Officer with providing a safe and efficient lock out system.
- The safe and efficient organisation and running of the team, subject to the Chief Engineers’ instructions and company requirements.
Qualifications and experience:
- ETO COC
- High Voltage- Management level
- Passenger vessel experience is preferred but not essential. On job training will be provided.
- We are looking for someone with the right attitude to learn new things and improve themselves within a well-organized innovative and safety conscious organisation.

This is a fixed term position based on the Rosslare/Cherbourg route within our Engine department.
At Stena Line we offer a competitive consolidated monthly salary along with an extensive Marine Benefits package providing medical cover for you and your family while you are onboard and at home. You will spend six exciting weeks working on board our newly refurbished vessel and spend three relaxing weeks at home. All meals will be provided onboard and you will have your own comfortable cabin. Our dedicated personnel officers will coordinate your travel to and from the vessel to ensure smooth and hassle free embarkation and disembarkation.
