People Advisor, Birkenhead (£35,000 - £38,000)

We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive People Advisor to join our team, supporting the operations at our Harwich Port, Terminal, and the Stena Britannica on the North Sea Region. As a People Advisor, you’ll take the lead on day-to-day People activities, providing expert guidance and support to employees and managers alike. You’ll partner with local management to deliver efficient and effective People services, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Some of your key responsibilities
- Deliver expert People support to Harwich Port, Terminal, and Stena Britannica, collaborating closely with local management.
- Provide guidance on employee relations, including participating in disciplinary and grievance processes, and attending trade union meetings.
- Oversee performance management, talent development, and succession planning to ensure workforce growth and readiness.
- Ensure compliance with employment law, maritime regulations, and company policies across all People practices.
- Drive timely completion of key People processes, including recruitment, performance reviews, and absence management.
- Contribute to high employee satisfaction and retention by providing practical and proactive solutions to People issues.
- Align People initiatives with the company’s strategic goals and business objectives.
- Promote a safe and healthy workplace while prioritising employee well-being.
- Continuously review and enhance People processes to adapt to legislative, industry, and organizational changes

Who you are

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent within HR
- CIPD qualified
- Solid experience working as a Senior HR Advisor or in a similar HR-role
- Absence Management and People Administration Experience
- Knowledge of handling and resolving complex cases including but not limited to capability, occupational health reviews, phased returns, implementing reasonable adjustments.
- Experience in critically assessing litigation risk
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Experienced user of MS Office
- Full driving licence & Passport - to drive/travel on a regular basis
