Data Scientist
We are now looking for a Data Scientist to join Stena Line. In this role you will tackle complex challenges by developing, validating, and refining predictive models, simulations, and optimisation algorithms, that directly improve operational outcomes. You will join an established and collaborative team of data scientists, to build and integrate decision-support software products. Together, you will harness the power of data to deliver actionable insights and strategic recommendations that shape business decisions and drive future growth.
Some of your key responsibilities:
- Develop automated software leveraging machine learning and optimization techniques to support commercial, revenue management, and operational functions
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand the business problems and find data driven solutions
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, and operational efficiency
- Quantify the business impact of models and continuously improve performance
- Contribute to end-to-end product development, from idea to production, and to continuous integration/delivery
- Stay up to date with the state-of-the-art techniques in transportation science, machine learning, AI, and revenue management
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, experimentation, and knowledge sharing within the team

Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Data Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar
- Strong background in modeling, optimisation, and algorithms
- Strong interest, or experience, in developing software
- Experience in using Python (Pandas, Polars, FastAPI, uv, LightGBM, scikit-learn, etc.)
- Experience in predictive modelling and forecasting
- Familiar with general Data Science/Machine Learning concepts and tools
- Experience with tabular and time series foundation models is meriting
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or maritime/aviation industries, particularly in revenue management or capacity optimisation, is meriting
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Azure is meriting
- Experience working with, and developing, AI agents is meriting
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
